Sunday Main Academy

Film making, musical theatre, acting & improvisational arts in Shrewsbury for students aged 7 - 17 years.

Upper school - 10:30am - 2:30pm Four hour Sunday academy

During an academy session students will experience four 50 minute sessions in our four core subject classes. We break for 20 minutes between the second and third session so that students and staff can refuel. We provide students with a well rounded and dynamic curriculum of industry reflective modules as well as a varied array of opportunities across the academic year - this could include public performances, Trinity College London performance exams, in-house showcases, professional opportunities within the industry or chances for personal development.

Is Main Academy for me?

Whilst we appreciate that some students wish to be professional actors, film makers, directors and performers we also understand that not everyone wants to go pro and some students are here to make friends, gain confidence and have a good time. This is why we tailor our curriculum to suit the needs of each individual member of our company - no two of us are the same, so our curriculum should reflect this!

Extra opportunities

As well as weekly academy sessions our main school students have the benefits of…

  • Yearly book musical performed at Theatre Severn.

  • Yearly cinema screening & red carpet gala event at Theatre Severn.

  • Yearly Festival performance and screening event at The Barnes Theatre - Shrewsbury School.

  • Professional opportunities.

  • Optional Trinity College London exams as of 2023.

  • Production & technical opportunities.

Our Students

Students are grouped by age but more often than not by development and ability. This helps us plan suitable material and subject matter within sessions and also ensures that students feel comfortable within a company of peers of a similar age.

We have three groups in Main School:

  • Yellow team - ages 6 - 9.

  • Amber team - ages 9 - 11.

  • Magenta team - Ages 12 - 18.
